Parent Testimonials

We are grateful for a strong community of teachers and families working together to provide the best preschool education in the Brandywine Valley.

We’re so grateful we found an environment that encourages natural curiosity and allows each child room to grow and develop at their own pace. Thank you for all you do!

My child is still always talking about CHMS! Peacemakers, peace, grace, and courtesy are common topics of conversation in our house now that we’re in public elementary school. At their young ages, my children already have such a deep understanding of the world they live in, very much in a global sense as well as down to our local and household community. They have a deep understanding and love of nature and all creatures as well.

My daughter has always been the type of child who tries to do everything on her own. It's refreshing to know that her independent skills are not only being acknowledged, but encouraged at school.

I can't say enough about the teachers at Children’s House Montessori. Our children did not speak English when they joined the school. All adults went out of their way to connect with them and after weeks they blossomed in the secure, nurturing environment. I was amazed at how rapidly they learned the language and were able to interact with their peers.

We love Montessori and more importantly, our son does. We were worried about the full days because our son is a little shy, but he loves going to school. It is one of the best decisions we've made.

As a single, working mom of a 1 year old daughter coming out of the pandemic, finding a preschool that offered a safe, nurturing, diverse and motivating educational environment was a priority for me. I found that at Children’s House! She has blossomed into a very independent, social, self confident and inquisitive child. She wholeheartedly loves “her school, her teachers and her friends”.

Our child started in the Toddler program at 18months old. The warmth and loving guidance of the teachers created an environment for him to foster independence and self-reliance. Comforting to us was also the teacher, who was always available to work with me on concerns and/or skills to be used a home.

We looked at every preschool in a 10-mile radius! No place felt like home the way Children’s House did and we never looked back!

Children’s House Montessori School has been the best decision for my children's education and our parenting! My son and daughter both attended, and my son stayed for a third Kindergarten year.  The Montessori way resonated so strongly with both of my very different children, and this has trickled over to our home as well. The independence they gained through sensational teachers have made a lasting impact on all of us.

My son has learned so many skills and concepts in the past 3 years, and he has developed self confidence and independence. He loves coming to school every day!

When my wife and I started to look for a preschool program for our son we didn't know much about Montessori. We came to an open house, talked to the teachers and soon realized that WE wanted to come to school. As parents we can't say enough about Montessori.

CHMS teachers and staff make each child feel special, giving them so much personal attention, allowing them to follow their interests and gain the skills they need.

I learned so much from my recent tour.  The classrooms felt open and bright, and the children somehow all engaged in activities.  I never imagined a preschool classroom could be so quiet and orderly!

Thanks to CHMS my daughter has made a seamless transition to Kindergarten. She has adjusted very well socially and is more than prepared academically. We are very pleased with the quality of education and closeness we had with our teachers. Thank you for all of your guidance and support, she’s prepared for her future in elementary school and beyond.

Thank you to Cathy and her fantastic team of educators for instilling a foundation for learning that will carry our children forward in their ongoing education. We look forward to our next year at Children’s House!

We strongly believe in the Montessori method and always knew that our children would attend a Montessori program until first grade. But we never thought we would find such an amazing school so close to our home. Having looked at many other Montessori schools, we were extremely impressed with community and ease of Children’s House. The Montessori method is unlike any other preschool program - it is not daycare. Our 4-year-old is currently learning how to read - not just memorizing letters and words - she is actually learning how to put sounds together to make words and sentences. There are so many other reasons why we love CHMS - easy drop-off and pick-up car line, family events, a variety of special classes (our girls love the yoga and Spanish classes), and parent education. We really feel lucky to have found this amazing Montessori school.

It means so much that my children were challenged academically AND to be the best people they can be.

I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the kindergarten program at CHMS – now that older sister is in first grade, is constantly referencing “sets of numbers” and “easy letter blends” – she has been beyond prepared!  â€‹

The toddler program has really worked out for our daughter. She was initially so shy when she started, but she is now so outgoing and confident. We are thankful for the welcoming vibe, great teachers and supportive curriculum.

Our son is in his fourth year and has been through the whole program from toddler to pre- primary. He has really improved and he's learned how to recognize all his letters and numbers and our teacher has been very supportive and very communicative. We’ve also really liked meeting other families - you really feel like you are part of something special and we love it.

I'm very impressed with the community factor. The teachers are so warm and loving and every adult in the school knows my child, even though she attends just three days a week. There’s a lot of respect and love for each other.

This is our third child at the school and we just can't recommend it highly enough. We chose it initially for proximity, knowing very little bit about Montessori education. We’ve been so delighted over and over again by the teachers, by the community and by the friendships we formed with other parents across the years.

One of the key factors for choosing a Montessori school was that our son was going to a traditional preschool and he wasn't doing very well. When we learned about Montessori and observed their classrooms, we discovered that it was a much better environment for our child since he beats to his own drum and loves to do the things he loves to do. When you walk into the classroom, you see that it's very open, it's inviting, and extremely interactive. The curriculum here is much more focused on the individual child. When he started to get that attention, and the ability for him to follow his passions and his desires, he really started to develop a love for learning. Your children will begin to blossom and become more independent and more confident children.
